Here are the starting lineups for both NYCFC and the Red Bulls:

NYCFC trimmed thier roster this week, selling fan favorite Poku to Miami FC of the NASL.

“We’ve taken it personally. There’s been a lot talk over the year-and-a-half about some of their superstar players, and rightfully so. They have some incredibly talented and legendary players on their team. They have a legendary coach. They’ve spent a lot of money. They’ve come into the market with a big splash. We’ve taken that personally. We have. We’ve taken that personally and we will again on Sunday.”

“Guys are angry right now. They’re angry that we’re out of the Cup, they’re angry we let points slip on the road. We’re all angry, and I think that’ll be reflected in our performance. I think we’re going to have a real edge. We know what these games are, and we’ll be ready,” said Red Bulls coach Jesse Marsch.

Robles continued, “We understand that there’s a lot on the line on Sunday, not only for table placement, but also for city bragging rights. When we were able to go to their place last time obviously we shocked and surprised everyone, including ourselves, to be able to put a touchdown up on the scoreboard. So it’s not necessarily something we’re going to mimic. We know that it’s going to be a very, very difficult, physical match, but there’s no reason for us to think that we can’t get a good result out of it.”

“This is the type of thing we may need to turn around current form,” said goalkeeper Luis Robles. “We absolutely expect that they’re going to come full force,” Robles told ESPN. “Whenever you beat a team on their home field 7-0 you better expect that you’re going to get their best and then some the next time around.”

The Red Bulls on the other hand come into the match on a three match lossing streak (all comps). A win against NYCFC might be the key in turning their fortunes around.

He has been fantastic, and what is important in this position is experience,” Vieira said to CBS New York. “Iraola is calm, composed on the ball, and he makes the simple decision. He brings us his tactical knowledge and understanding. I really like that Andoni is calm, and he’s improved the team tactically. Sometimes, having young players in his position is good because they give you field coverage, but at the same time you lose a little tactical knowledge.”

A key to the match might be Andoni Iraola. If the Spaniard can hold the pressing Red Bulls at the CDM position, it might give NYCFC's defense time to play the ball forward cleanley.

“The circumstances surrounding the game are different,” Tommy McNamara said after training Tuesday to CBS' Glenn Crooks. “The last time we were coming cross country we had played two games already that week. You can’t really get after it in training. You can’t be too competitive because you’re going to burn yourself out before the game. Here we have a full week to prepare – it’s a good way to start the week on a high note.”

Some NYCFC players believe that having the whole week off will be a factor in this match compared to last time the faced the Red Bulls.

“I know we’re not seven goals worst than them,” Frank Lampard said. “We’re a team that can beat them, it’s as simple as that. But we need to show it on the pitch.”

“Like I’m going to mention to the players, that was a one-off game,” Vieira said. “What I want, of course, is that result to be somewhere in our mind, but the main focus will be on ourselves, how we want to play, how we’re going to play, respecting our game plan. That will not change. We’re going to concentrate on ourselves and how we can hurt them.”

Despite being hammered in the first New York Derby of the season (7-0), the NYCFC gaffer believes that was a one time deal.

I watched the game again [Monday] and we played even better than I thought we played,” Vieira said to NYCFC.com. “I was really pleased with how we conducted ourselves on the field, with and without the ball.”

Blues coach Patrick Vieira was very satisfied with his team's performance in Cascadia.

NYCFC have won back-to-back against the Philadelphia Union and the Seattle Sounders in June.

New York City FC won their second match since the return of MLS from the Copa America break last weekend, defeating a Clint Dempsey-less Seattle Sounders 2-0 at CenturyLink Field. Frank Lampard scored in his second consecutive match while Ronald Matarritta scored his first in a City shirt.

In their midweek US Open Cup match, the Red Bulls lost 2-1 in Chester against the Philadelphia Union.
