The MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Sporting Kansas City defender Kevin Ellis, along with two others for one match, and an undisclosed fine for their actions in MLS match week 24.
Ellis has been suspended one game for violent conduct that endangered the safety of the opponent in Sporting's match against the Vancouver Whitecaps.
In the ninth minute of play, Whitecaps forward Giles Barnes peels away from SKC midfielder Graham Zusi on an attack towards goal when Ellis came in high with an elbow to the face of Barnes, who went down holding what appeared to be his jaw.
Ellis will miss the next Sporting Kansas City match, as they play the Philadelphia Union.
Vancouver Whitecaps to be without Bolanos
The MLS Disciplinary Committee has also suspended Vancouver winger Christian Bolanos for his elbow in their match with Sporting Kansas City.
Bolanos has also been issued an undisclosed fine for violent conduct that endangered the safety of an opponent.
In the 53rd minute, Sporting midfielder Graham Zusi clears the ball away from goal, when Bolanos hit Zusi in the back of the head with a lowered shoulder. Zusi fell to the ground holding his head, but the referee made no initial call. Bolanos will serve his suspension in the Whitecaps next game against the LA Galaxy.
New York Red Bulls Alex Muyl fined
Lastly, the MLS Disciplinary committee has fined forward Alex Muyl for embellishment during his match against DC United.
Just after halftime in the 47th minute, Muyl gets a slight bump from the back in the air and falls theatrically to the ground, clenching his chest. Referee Ismail Elfath whistled for the foul in favor of the New York Red Bulls. Muyl is not suspended, and will be eligible to play in New York' next match against the New England Revolution.
