The Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals have
taken a strong hold on the division since 2013. In the 2018 there could be a
change of the guard and introduce a new champion in the much-improved Milwaukee
Former Cardinal pitcher John Lackey impressed Monday night in his return to Busch Stadium in St Louis. Lackey sent down 11 Cardinals and helped the Cubs improve to a historic 10-3 record to start the season.
The Cardinals are a perennial team to beat in the NL Central and they are coming off a 100 win season. The question is whether or not they did enough this off-season to keep up with the division rival Cubs and Pirates who were both right on their tail last year.
