Rumor: New Samsung Watch?

Samsung is expected to unveil their new smart watch, codenamed Orbis, at their press event.

Samsung hasn’t had much luck with their current line of smart watches, especially with the recent introduction of the Apple Watch.

The watch, which is likely to be named the Gear A, has been confirmed to feature a circular face and a round, rotatable bezel (the metallic outline around the watch face) that will be used to navigate the interface and zoom into photos.

It is rumored to feature 768mb of RAM, an upgrade from the Gear S’ 512mb. It is expected to pack the same 4gb of internal storage.

It is also expected to carry the standard features of a WiFi chip, heart rate sensor, and GPS chip. Additionally, it reportedly features a "digital crown," although it’s unclear what it would be used for.

Unlike the previous generation, the watch is also rumored to feature a digital crown, which is reported to look and act similar to that on Apple's first ever smartwatch.

Concepts show the possiibility of a flexible glass screen. The idea is that the glass screen would bend and contour to your wrist just as the watch band would.

Another rumor is that the watch face will have curved edges, similarly to the Galaxy S6 Edge. While this would make little sense and make it impossible to have a flexible screen, it it possible that Samsung would include the feature for branding or continuity purposes.

Like the previous generation, the Gear A is expected to run Tizen, just like the previous generation. Many find this inconvenient as most watches - with the exception of the Apple Watch - run on Android Wear and synchronize more seamlessly with their Android phones.
