Apple introduced two new iPads on Wednesday: the iPad mini 4 and the long-awaited iPad Pro.
The mini 4 was released with the same internals as the iPad Air 2. The mini measures in a 6.1mm thin and .65 pounds. It runs on the A8 chip and M8 motion coprocessor. The battery promises up to 10 hours of surfing the web on WiFi, watching video, or listening to music.
The mini comes in Silver, Gold, and Space Gray. It starts at $399 for the 16GB model, $499 for the 64GB model, and $599 for the 128GB model. It is available now.
As for the Pro, it comes in at a stunning 6.9mm thin and runs on the A9X chip. The 64-bit chip runs with 2x the memory bandwidth and storage performance of the A8X chip, making it "desktop quality."
The screen has a 2732 x 2048 pixel display, making for a grand total of 5.6 million pixels on the display! The tablet also promises a 10-hour battery life and features a four-speaker audio system.
Alongside the Pro comes the Smart Keyboard, which connects to the iPad via a magnetic "Smart Connector" on the side of the device.
Also introduced was the Apple Pencil, Apple's first stylus. The Pencil features sensors that work with the iPad to detect things such as postion, force, and tilt. It also introduces Force Data that detects force to produce thicker or thinner strokes when drawing. The Pencil charges via a lightning connector located at the top that plugs into the iPad.
The tip of the Pencil is precise enough to touch a single pixel. This is impressive when you consider that the Pro has 5.6 million pixels making up its incredibly sharp display.
The Pro starts at 32GB for $799, 128GB for $999, and 128GB WiFi + Cellular for $1079.
The Smart Keyboard is $169, and the Pencil costs $99.
