World number eleven Grigor Dimitrov didn't have any trouble in his second round match against American Steve Johnson and yet again made it to the round of 32 in what seems to be his favorite surface. Dimitrov beat Johnson 7-6, 6-2, 7-6 in what seemed to be a straightforward match, but it didn't quite start as one for last year's Wimbledon semifinalist

The Bulgarian looked confident from the start especially with his one-handed backhands, but so did Steve Johnson who served particularly well throughout the match.  He hit 73 percent of his first serves in in comparison to Dimitrov's 69 percent. The first set eventually went to a tiebreaker where it seemed Dimitrov started to choke. It was 6-4 in favor of Johnson when the Bulgarian bravely saved two set points to level it at six apiece. It was one heck of a tiebreak which finally Dimitrov scalped at 10-8. It was enough to give the 11th seed a lift in spirits as he began dominating the American.

In the 2nd set, Johnson's first serve percentage dropped and as a result, the Bulgarian broke immediately to take a psychological lead in the 2nd set. Dimitrov continued hitting winners and racked up a total of 47 winners against Johnson's 29. Dimitrov soon got up a double break and things seemed melancholy for the American. Dimitrov served for the set at 5-2 and with lethal serving, he took the set 6-2 and was up two sets to love.

The third set was in a way a fight back for Johnson but Dimitrov did not retract from his attacking style of play. Once again like the first set, serve prevailed. Both served exceptionally well and Johnson started attacking by approaching the net on multiple occasions only to be beaten by Grigor's wonderful backhand passing shots. However, he did not lose serve and they once again headed into the tiebreak. Pressure was on the American this time as he needed to win the set to stay alive in The Championships. Dimitrov pounced on him from the get go and was up 6-2 with four match points. Johnson had served 13 aces in the match (17 for Dimitrov ) and 5 double faults. The last of the double faults came on match point and Dimitrov sealed his victory.

Dimitrov next plays Richard Gasquet in the third round.
