With two great servers on the court, we all knew that breaks were going to be hard to come by as one could make the difference in each set. That's how the match started in the opening set as Canadian Vasek Pospisil took advantage of his break point opportunities to take a 4-3 lead in the opening set. He would eventually take the set 6-4 over James Ward

The Canadian's efficiency was the difference in the opener winning four of six net points as well as having six winners and only one unforced error.

In the second, Ward broke in the opening game which was highlighted by two double faults from the Canadian. With the early advantage, the crowd started to get into it cheering on the Brit every point as went up 3-0. The one half of the pairing of "Pospisock" won his first game after being forced to save a break point and had the opportunity to break back, but Ward held with two big aces. He closed out the set with a strong service game.

The third set started similarly as the second with an early break to start the set as Ward raced out in front once again. After that, Pospisil lost his focus as he hit his fouth double fault of the match which was followed by a forehand error to give the Brit yet another break.

Ward didn't struggle with his service games in the third set. After 38 minutes, he took a two sets to one lead and had the crowd dreaming of potentially having two men in the second week of Wimbledon. After having only one unforced error in the first set, he ended the third set with 21 unforced errors and only won 4 of 14 second serve points in the set.

Despite being down, the 2014 Wimbledon Doubles champion was looking to mount a comeback. He hot his confidence back as he broke early like Ward had done in the previous two sets. He attacked the net like he would in doubles as he was looking to forcee a fifth. Pospisil kept the lead and didn't have any problems taking the fourth set 6-3.

In the final set, it was a battle of holding serves and nerves. The Canadian started off perfectly as he didn't find any difficulties on his serve while Ward faced some adversities in the final set.

The Canadian continued to serve strongly holding at love a couple of times as began to really attack Ward at 6-all. After getting up 0-30, Ward looked to have fended him off with a second serve ace down 15-40 but found the net on the second break as Pospisil had a shot for the round of 16 on his racket.

As he served for the match, the Canadian found no problems with his serve and took the match in a thriller.

In the final set we had a serves battle. The Canadian served in a perfect way meanwhile Ward faced some problems but he had his forehand to keep himself alive in the final set. The world number 54 finds himself in the round of 16 in a major for the first time ever and will face off against Viktor Troicki. Ward will now focus on potential Davis Cup heroics again in Britain's quarterfinal tie against France.
