On Friday afternoon at the US Open, 19th-seeded American Madison Keys defeated 15th seed Agnieszka Radwanska 6-3, 6-2 in a total of 69 minutes. The two players' styles could not differ any more than they do. 20-year-old Keys plays very aggressively with a big forehand and big serve while Radwanska plays a very crafty slow-paced game.

Today, the power of Keys game was too much for Radwanska as she did not have enough time to dictate. The match would be closer in level than the scoreline would appear. Radwanska would go 2 for 12 on break points while Keys would convert an efficient six for eight on break points. A very odd stat from the match is that Radwanska went a horrid 0 percent on 2nd serves won. Keys would strike 30 winners to book her place in the 4th round.

Keys takes advantage on the big points

The match would start on Radwanska's serve. Right away, Keys 'aggressive gameplan would startle her opponent as she would break right away with the help of four winners. Keys would be tested right away on serve as she would face a break point but would manage to hold with an important ace on the deuce point. Radwanska would finally get on the board with a hold of serve for 1-2.

Keys would again be in trouble on serve as she would go down a 0-40 deficit. Her fight and determination would be shown as she would roar back for a hold to take a commanding 3-1 lead. The Pole would then come back with a hold of serve. In the next game, Keys would again give Radwanska a chance to break as she would hit unforced errors and double faults. She would again show resolve as she would seal the hold for a 4-2 lead. Radwanska would then hold at love to get it to 3-4.

Radwanska would have another chance to get back the break as she would get a 40-15 lead on the American's serve. Keys would show mental focus as she would force errors and hit a winner to secure another tough hold and a 5-3 lead. Keys would then gear up to finish the set with a break of serve. She would hit an impressive 3 winners in a row to break at love.

The first set would go to Keys 6-3 in a total of 38 minutes. The key to the set would be Radwanska's failure to convert on break points as she would go zero for eight.

Keys puts the match to rest

Keys would start the 2nd set looking to continue her run of good fortune but she would be quickly faced with a rough patch of play. She would hit 4 errors as Radwanska would take a 1-0 lead. In Radwanska's hopes of finally getting ahead and consolidating her break, the American would not be denied. In another comeback, the American would be down 0-40 but would turn it on with winners to break back for 1-all.

This would be the momentum shift that would lead to Keys victory in straight sets. She would hold for 2-1 then quickly follow it up with a broke to 15 for 3-1. She then would fire an ace to secure a 4-1 lead. Radwanska's hopes of winning would vanish as she would go down 0-40 and eventually be broken for a 1-5 deficit. Keys would look to finish on serve but would not be able to do it. Radwanska would break. In the end, Keys at 5-2 would hit 2 forehand winners to break Radwanska yet again. She would win the set 6-2 and the match.

With the victory Keys goes on to face fellow American and world number one Serena Williams. It will be a matchup of fire power and flare.
