Finn Balor winning the WWE Universal Championship was one of the few highlight's of SummerSlam but what was a dream come true, has quickly turned into a nightmare.

The Irish performer defeated Seth Rollins but picked up a serious injury mid-way through the match which is set to have detrimental effects.

The capturing of the newest title in WWE by one of newest call-ups from NXT was supposed to symbolize the dawn of the New Era.

While the victory for Balor will firmly remain in history, his championship may no longer have his name etched into it.

The Demon King sustained a "dislocated shoulder" after he was hurled into the protective barricade surrounding the ring by The Architect Rollins via a running powerbomb.

WWE ringside physician Dr. Chris Robinson said, "He hit the wall during the match, dislocated his shoulder and put it back in himself in a split second."

Sounds painful but the news that followed may hurt fans of the current Universal Champion even more.

The medical professional continued as he said that Balor's earlier MRI "yielded" results earlier showing a "possible labrum tear."

WWE were dealt with a number of shoulder injuries last year with John Cena and Cesaro forced to miss WrestleMania 32 because of their issues.

The champion is set to seek advice from a surgical consultant although at this moment it does not look good for the former NXT Champion who could be forced to vacate the title just one day after winning it.

Side Note: Rollins has unfortunately been involved in the injuries to Cena, Sting and now Balor although none were indefinitely his fault

Injuries with a side of suspensions

The wrestling promotion has been hit with a sheer case of bad luck over the past year with a number of injuries hampering their biggest pay-per-view at The Grandest Stage of Them All and now a violation epidemic sweeping through is threatening to halt the momentum of the New Era.

Currently, the company has Paige, Alberto Del Rio, and Eva Marie all suspended following violations of the Talent Wellness Policy.

Randy Orton received medical assistance after his brawl with Brock Lesnar and required 10 stitches to close his gaping wound meaning he is likely to be off-screen while he recovers from his beating.

Even returning stars could not catch a break as Shelton Benjamin was injured before appearing for the company picking up a shoulder injury.

Fortunately for WWE amongst the dark cloud of Balor's injury comes the saving grace of their talent depth which thankfully for them is deeper on Monday Night Raw with a number of superstars possibly able to fill the role about to be left by The Demon King.
