One of the biggest talking points in the world of movies has been the tensions on the set of the upcoming Furious 8 movie between The Rock and his co-workers, in particular, Vin Diesel. Now, according to reports, that tension could be about to spill over into the wrestling ring at the WWE's biggest stage of them all, WrestleMania 33.
Reports from Life & Style Magazine claim that an 'insider' is stating that this ongoing feud will be turned into an on-screen feud around 'Mania season in order to promote the upcoming movie and be a major part of the show.
Seeing a magazine such as Life & Style who wouldn't normally comment on wrestling related topics shows the widespread reach this potential match could have which goes to show why the WWE would be interested in having it take place at WrestleMania.
Could it happen?
The Rock ripped into his co-star via social media during the filming process claiming his male colleagues, "conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals... others don't." He also stated that "the ones that don't are too chicken s—t to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses."
This was, of course, picked up by all forms of mainmedia and gained mass attention from fans of the film series, which Rock has transformed, and is certainly a widespread angle that has time to grow before WrestleMania, should it happen.
The report also claimed that Rocky has asked Vin to "amp up" the tension between both men in order to start building the match, which shows he is interested.
There's no doubt that fans would want to see this as the two giants would likely tear each other apart in the ring. Whilst Vin Diesel might not have any wrestling ability he certainly has the right look and physical ability and the star power involved would be enough to carry the match through.
Whether it happens remains to be seen as The Rock hasn't been in the ring since WrestleMania 32, but he would need to be back before the show to build it up unlike this year when he turned up on the day.
