Spoiler alert for those who did not watch WWE Clash of Champions last night, Roman Reigns defeated Rusev in a very heated battle.

With near falls and multiple Lana involvement, this was a contender for match of the night as the former Shield member walked out of Indiana with new gold around his waist.

Currently the stock of Reigns has never been hotter, despite a WWE World Championship once being held in his possession it came at a time when fans were not truly sold on the 31-year-old.

Now however following his violation of the wellness policy which resulted in his demotion to the mid-card it seems that the former Shield member is winning fans over at a rapid pace.

Despite his increase in approval from the WWE Universe there are still some that believe he is suited to a 'heel' bad guy role but backstage officials do not share the same view.

Reigns was, until his violation, pushed as the new 'face of the company' but with his good-guy image tarnished they felt it was best to allow to him to build himself up from the bottom once more, like a rebirth process.

It seems to have worked as the former NXT member made his way into the Bakers Life Fieldhouse to a majority ovation (with some boos and jeers still clearly heard).

Now with the United States Championship proudly in his possession, WWE feel this is only the start of a long, long run for The Guy who they still feel will eventually get most if not all fans once more on his side.

Future Shield reunion

As reported earlier this month, WWE have plans in the works to form a mini-Shield reunion but it seems clearer regarding what the plans will be.

Seth Rollins who (spoiler) lost to Kevin Owens in last night's main event is set to team-up with his former stable member Reigns to take on the team of The Prizefighter and The Bulgarian Brute.

This is expected to take place on a future episode of Monday Night Raw with possible Live events also witnessing the tag-team action.

Dean Ambrose is unlikely to have any part in the reunion given that he is a world away on SmackDown Live although the trio could once again reform for a 'one night only' event at a pay-per-view further down the line.
