Rising Pune Supergiants defeated the Kings XI Punjab in Visakhapatnam by four wickets to end their IPL campaign on a positive note.

Kings XI won the toss and made 172 from their 20 overs thanks to Murali Vijay who made 59 and Gukeerat Singh Mann who made 51. In reply, the Supergiants never got going until brilliance from MS Dhoni who smashed 64 not out from 32 balls saw his side home by four wickets. Kings XI, therefore, finish bottom of the table which ends a pretty disappointing campaign for them.

At the toss, Kings XI captain Vijay won it and choose to bat first in a game which will see the losing team finish bottom of the table which is something that neither team wants to happen.

Amla and Vijay got Kings XI of to a posive start

Kings XI got off to a good start with Hashim Amla and Vijay putting on 60 for the first wicket before Amla was out for 30 of 27 balls in the eighth over of the innings. Ravichandran Ashwin was the man for the Supergiants to get the breakthrough as he showed all his experience to get the wicket.

It didn't take long for the Supergiants to get their second wicket as Wriddhiman Saha fell for three of four balls in the next over of the bowling of Adam Zampa. The wicket of Saha brought Gurkeerat Mann to the crease. 

Gurkeerat Mann and Vijay got their team up to 172

Gukeerat Mann and Vijay put on 58 for the third wicket before Vijay went for one big shot too many against Ashwin and was bowled for a well made 59 from 41 balls.

Gukeerat Mann then opened up at the fall of the Vijay wicket and got past his fifty before falling to Ashwin for 51 from 30 balls to bring to end a very good innings. David Miller also fell in the same over to Ashwin for seven from five balls just as he was starting to get going for his team.

Ashwin took four wickets for the Supergiants

Kings XI lost two more wickets but some late hitting saw them get up to 172 for seven from their 20 overs. Ashwin was the star for the Supergiants taking four wickets for 34 runs from his four overs.

Supergiants lose early wickets at start

In reply, the Supergiants got off to a decent start as they reached 44 for one after the power play. Ajinka Rahane was the wicket to fall for 19 from 15 balls of the bowling of Sandeep Sharma

George Bailey coming in at number three didn't last very long as he was out for nine from eleven balls. Axar Patel was the man to get the wicket as he managed to get Bailey stumped with a beautiful delivery. 

Saurabh Tiwary joined Usman Khawaja at the crease at the fall of the second wicket and just as the pair were rebuilding the innings both fell in the same over to Gukeerat Mann. Tiwary was first to go for 17 from 15 balls and then Khawaja was out for 30 from 29 balls to leave the score on 80 for four.

Irfan Pathan didn't last much longer either for the Supergiants as he was out for two from three balls of the bowling of Rishi Dhawan as things went from bad to worse. The wicket of Pathan brought Thisara Perera to the crease alongside MS Dhoni as the pair needed to get the Supergiants over the line.

Perera and Dhoni put on 58 for the sixth wicket before Perera fell to Mohit Sharma for a quickfire 23 from 14 balls. Dhoni though was still at the crease and he blasted his team home smashing 64 not out to see his team win of the last ball of the match by four wickets.
