Adrien Petit (Cofidis) claimed the biggest win of his career on the farm tracks of Brittany as he rode to victory in Tro-Bro Leon. The 23-year-old outsprinted breakaway companion Flavien Dassonville (BigMat-Auber93) at the finish in the small town of Lannilis, while Cédric Pineau (FDJ.fr) came in 27 seconds in arrears to complete the podium.

A seven man break went clear early, including a number of strong riders such as Yauheni Hutarovich (Ag2r-La Mondiale) and Anthony Geslin (FDJ.fr), but with a number of big teams including IAM, Europcar, and Cofidis not represented, the move was pulled back with almost 50km still remaining.

But the race was not together for long, as Johan Le Bon (FDJ.fr) attacked from the main bunch, dragging a group of seven clear, including Petit, Dassonville, and two-time winner Samuel Dumoulin (Ag2r-La Mondiale). The group worked well together, quickly establishing a gap of over a minute.

Once again the losers were IAM Cycling, who, having failed to put a man in the move, were forced to do the chasing. The Swiss team worked hard to bring the break back within sight, but were powerless when Petit and Dassonville took off with 20km remaining.

The two men, both aged only 23-years-old, worked well together and steadily re-established their advantage, as the peloton gave up the chase and focused on the fight for third place. Pineau jumped clear together with Pierre Luc Perichon (Bretagne-Séché Environnement), before riding clear in the final kilometre to take the final spot on the podium.

And between the leading duo it was a similar scenario, with Petit easily despatching Dassonville in the final sprint for the line to take the victory and the accompanying prize piglet.
