Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that winger cum centre midfielder, Angel Di Maria has asked to leave the club with Manchester United believed to be the club interested.

Speaking ahead of the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup, the Italian manager revealed Di Maria had requested to move yet if a resolution could not be found, he would welcome him back into the team.

"Di Maria asked us to leave this summer. Then, he rejected an offer from another club. If he stays here, he will be used and he will not be a problem for us, but he's the one who needs to make up his mind and find an answer to this question."

We can assume Ancelotti has been brought around to saying this because Di Maria has looked for a new, bigger contract and a guaranteed place in the first team. With James Rodriguez, Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo all available on the wing and Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Xabi Alonso in midfield, Ancelotti isn't willing to give him a place in the starting line-up.

Ancelotti also commented on Sami Khedira's situation. The German has one year left on his contract at Real Madrid and various clubs, including Arsenal, interested in the midfielder.

"Khedira's situation is different. He has contract with us and he rejected our offer to extend it. We'll see what happens."

Di Maria has been left to push for the move by himself and this confirms interest from Manchester United and also confirms contact from United to the player. With Sami Khedira also set to leave the European champions, a double deal could be on the cards for the midfield duo.

"The game changed with Di Maria, it's logical - he's the best player they have."

Angel Di Maria was labeled as Real Madrid's best player by Atletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone; "The game changed with Di Maria, it's logical - he's the best player they have."

Di Maria is likely to demand a far higher fee than Sami Khedira. Reports suggest Manchester United will be forced to pay more than £50 million for the winger who made 22 assists last season, more than Cristiano Ronaldo or Gareth Bale.

Madrid are likely to find a deal for Khedira, unlike Di Maria, with the German having just one year left on his contract and Champions League challengers Bayern Munich the likely suitor should that contract be run down.
