The draw for the third round of the 2014-2015 Capital One Cup was made this evening, and the draw produced more interesting ties.

The shock of the second round saw MK Dons humiliate Manchester United 4-0 at stadium:mk, and that result earned them another home tie, this time against Bradford. Bradford were another team to cause an upset in the second round, scoring a late winner to beat fierce rivals Leeds United.

The third round sees the introduction of the bigger Premier League teams, and all of the top six sides from last season drew home ties, bar one. Capital One Cup and Premier League holders Manchester City begin the defence of their trophy against Sheffield Wednesday, who knocked out newly-promoted Burnley on Tuesday. Championship side Bolton face a tough test against Jose Mourinho's Chelsea, whilst Arsenal and Liverpool face Southampton and Middlesbrough at home respectively.

Everton face Swansea at the Liberty Stadium in one of the five all-Premier League games, with the others seeing Crystal Palace and Newcastle face off, Stoke taking a trip to the Stadium of Light to face Sunderland, and Alan Irvine's West Brom side taking on Hull. Mauricio Pochettino will manage his first Capital One Cup game for Tottenham against Nottingham Forest.

There are also seven ties that don't involve a Premier League club. Two all League 1 chashes were drawn as Leyton Orient were tied against early title favourites Sheffield United, and MK Dons drew Bradford. The lowest ranked team left in the competition, Shrewsbury Town, sixth in League 2, face recently-relegated Norwich City.
