Lee Holmes, who was on loan at Exeter for the second half of last season, has penned a deal with the Grecians until June 2016.

Whilst on loan at Exeter (for 7 weeks) he played 6 games and failed to score, but still became a fan favourite during his time there.

Holmes started his career at Derby and was quickly sent out on loan to experience first team football with at Swindon, Walsall and Bradford. During his combined loan spell with these 3 clubs he played 49 games, scoring 6 goals. He then found a way into the Derby first team, featuring 26 times and adding a further two goals to his tally. He was released from Derby in 2008 and was quickly snapped up by Southampton.

Again, at Southampton, Holmes was sent out on loan to Swindon and then to Oxford, where he played 12 games and notched up a few goals. He was released in May 2012 and the following day moved to Preston.

Preston finally gave Holmes found a regular place, as he scored 6 goals in 40 appearances. Midway through last term, he moved to Portsmouth on loan and played just a handful of games.

He was then sent on loan to Exeter where he found himself as a first team regular and, although he did not score, put in some fantastic performances.

On the move Holmes said, "I had an enjoyable time on the pitch and the relationship I had with the fans was nice. So those boxes all got ticked for Exeter and it made things difficult for any other club that was coming in because they had to do an awful lot to persuade me to go to them."
