Oldham Athletic have completed the signing of experienced midfielder David Dunn following his release from Blackburn Rovers.

The 35-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the Latics after he was let go by Rovers at the end of last season.

Dunn, who is set to enter his 19th season in his career, told Oldham's official website that he is: "really looking forward to joining up with the rest of the lads".

The attacking midfielder has witnessed a small number of Oldham's pre-season friendlies and has been impressed by what he has seen so far, indicating that he believes he can make an impact himself.

Another signing

Dunn becomes Oldham's fifth summer signing following the arrivals of Welsh goalkeeper David Cornell from Swansea City and George Green from Everton.

Oldham boss Darren Kelly has also completed deals for former Manchester City midfielder Lee Croft whilst ex-Wales U21 international Jake Cassidy has joined from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The story so far

Dunn began his professional career with Blackburn Rovers in 1998 after developing through the club's youth system. He made his debut in a 0-0 draw against Everton on 26th September '98 before scoring his first goal the following February against Aston Villa in a 3-1 victory.

After a string of impressive performances during Blackburn's League Cup triumph and promotion back to the Premier League, Dunn landed himself an England call-up in 2002. He made his debut against Portugal in a 1-1 draw at Villa Park, replacing Steven Gerrard at half-time.

That proved to be Dunn's only outing on the international stage. The following year he completed a £5.5 million move to Birmingham City where he went on to make 69 appearances for the Blues, scoring 9 goals, before returning to Rovers in 2006.

He was ever present for the Lancashire side during their time in the Premier League but was unable to prevent them from relegation to the Championship during the 2011-12 season. Dunn has since struggled to put a run of games together and was eventually released at the end of the last campaign.
