Notts County Ladies are preparing for what will be the biggest in the club’s biggest match in their history tomorrow when they will travel to the capital to play Chelsea Ladies in the FA Women’s FA Cup final - the first to be played at the national stadium. They may have only played three matches on their way to the final, but here is look back on their journey to Wembley.

Notts County Ladies 4-0 Tottenham Hotspur Ladies: Sunday, March 22

County began their journey to the final back in March when they were matched up with Tottenham in the fifth round of the cup.

They managed to cruise into the quarter-finals with ease managing a 4-0 victory over the North London side. It only took 16 minutes for the home side to take the lead when Sophie Walton slotted past the goalkeeper to get her first goal for the club. They then came flying out of the traps after the break with Ellen White slotting home the second.

Fiona O'Sullivan got her first goal of the season with a minute to go before the end to round off the tie, before adding her second a minute later to set up a meeting with Aston Villa in the next round.

Notts County Ladies 5-1 Aston Villa Ladies: Sunday, April 12

County were now two matches away from the Wembley final but faced a tough test against Aston Villa to reach the semi-finals, however, like in the previous round, they made an example of the Midlands side and eventually ran out 5-1 winners.

It took longer this time around for County to take the lead with White finding the net on the stroke of half-time, but, like the game against Tottenham, they came flying out of the traps in the second period with captain Laura Bassett doubling the lead eight minutes after the restart.

It went from bad to worse for Villa when they had a player sent off and conceded a third from Aileen Whelan - in doing so all but secured Notts' passage into the semi-finals.

A fourth followed from Dunia Susi with twenty minutes to play before Kerri Walsh managed to grab a consolation for the away side, but their four-goal advantage was restored with Susi got her second of the game with five minutes to play.

Everton Ladies 0-3 Notts County Ladies: Sunday, May 3

County were 90 minutes away from a match at Wembley with Everton standing between them and a trip down south.

Nerves were on edge after a goal-less first period but throughout the tournament County improved their performance drastically in the second-half and this wasn’t any different with Jess Clarke heading County into the lead.

White added a second ten minutes later before Dani Buet secured their trip to Wembley in spectacular fashion with her 35-yard effort being her first goal of the competition - rounding off a sweet victory.
