Nottingham Forest are considering a move for out-of-contract Stoke City full-back Andy Wilkinson.

Wilkinson, 30 spent 14 years at the Britannia Stadium before being released at the end of the season. He appeared 192 times for Stoke but has struggled in recent years with injury. 

The 30-year old spent last season on loan at Millwall, making nine apperances between October and January. He has also spent time out on loan in the Football League and beyond with spells at BlackpoolShrewsbury Town and Partick Thistle earlier on in his career.

The Potters have given Wilkinson a week-by-week contract while he looks to find a new club and to aid with his recuperation from injury.

Eric Lichaj shone at left-back last season but is more suited at right-back, while another left-back Dan Harding left Forest after his contract expired at the end of the season, meaning a lack of defenders is now an issue for Dougie Freedman.

Freedman knows the Forest fans will expect more from his side next season and tensions are rising between the fans and owner Fawaz Al Hasawi.

Al Hasawi recently unveiled a bizarre painting showing himself with his brother and Forest great Brian Clough in the sky above the City Ground. The move angered some fans, who are frustrated with his dealings in the transfer market and treatment of managers.

Meanwhile, reports suggest that Burnley have tabled a bid for winger Jamie Paterson. Paterson, 23, has scored 13 times in 64 apperances for Forest since joining from Walsall in 2013. Wolves are reported to also be chasing the highly-rated wide man.

Striker Lars Veldwijk is also reportedly in talks with Dutch side FC Zwolle about a season-long loan, according to various news outlets.

The 23-year-old joined the Reds from Eredivisie outfit Excelsior last June, but has failed to impress without starting a match in the league and only making 11 appearances from the subs bench with three cup starts.
