Leeds United have confirmed the signing of forward, Chris Wood, from Premier League outfit, Leicester City for an undisclosed fee.

Wood, 23, joins Leeds on a four-year contract after holding off interest from other Championship clubs, including Wolves

VAVEL reported last week that Wolves were interested in the New Zealand international but have been beaten by Uwe Rosler's Leeds to his signature.

Wood's most recent loan spell came at Ipswich Town, where he failed to score in eight appearances for the Tractor Boys.

Wood has struggled for a long-term club

At the age of 23, remarkably this is Wood's 11th club. Wood started his career at Waikato FC, before moving to Hamilton Wanderers.

From the Wanderers, Wood went on to play at; West Bromwich Albion, Barnsley, Brighton and Hove Albion, Birmingham City, Bristol City, Millwall, Leicester City, and Ipswich Town. Playing for many of those sides on loan.

The 23-year-old scored 20 times during his 62 appearances in all competitions for Leicester but failed to force his way into Nigel Pearson's plans last season.

Rosler excited by his new addition

Rosler described Wood as, "an important piece" to the jigsaw, as he looks to transform Leeds into a promotion force ahead of the 2015/16 season.

He also said it was, "exciting" and that Wood's "proven goal scoring record" would be important if his side are to push for honours come May 2016.

Wood spoke about wanting to become, "part of history" at Elland Road. And he is ready to, "take the club forward"

He called Leeds, "a massive club" with a fanbase to match it, saying they had, "very passionate fans" and that he "couldn't wait to get started".

Wood when asked about his plans he said he wanted to be in the Premier League saying that's, "where I want to take Leeds (Premier League)".

Rosler was happy with the signing of Chris Wood saying he was, "the right player at the right time".
