Three Championship clubs want Cardiff striker Adam Le Fondre as he wants to move away from his nightmare spell in the Welsh capital, according to local press.

Wales are suggesting that Wolves, Ipswich and Bolton  are looking to take Le Fondre away from Cardiff on a permanent basis, the latter having had the striker on loan last season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had purchased the former Reading man for £2.5m as the Norwegian had looked to assemble a squad capable of bouncing back to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

But his spell at  Cardiff was a complete flop, only scoring three times in 25 games for the Bluebirds as he failed to settle in Wales and Solskjaer was sacked, with Le Fondre then being shipped out to Bolton in January after falling out of favour under Russell Slade.

Reborn

The forward was reborn at the Macron as he plundered eight goals in 17 games under the stewardship of Neil Lennon, and now the former Celtic boss wants to make Le Fondre’s loan spell at the Trotters a permanent one.

Yet Lennon will face immense competition for the hitman’s signature, with Kenny Jackett’s Wolves and Ipswich’s Mick McCarthy both now interested in bolstering their squads.

Decisions To Be Made

With Ipswich finishing in the playoffs last season, Wolves just outside of the top six themselves, both coaches will be looking to Le Fondre to give them the sort of edge that he gave Reading when he top-scored for the Royals in 2011/12 as he led them to the Championship title.

Le Fondre would add to a mouth-watering strikeforce at Wolves with Nouha Dicko and Benik Afobe, whilst at Ipswich he could partner Daryl Murphy who scored 27 goals last season for the Tractor Boys.

That isn’t to say the former Rotherham man may not fancy staying at Bolton, with Lennon hoping to improve on the Trotters’ 18th place finish last season in what will be his first full season in charge at the Macron.
