Brentford forward Andre Gray could be set to swap London for Hull City, with the former Premier League club keen on making a move for the English striker who netted 16 league goals for Brentford last season.

The former Luton Town player made a move from the Conference to Championship football last summer for an undisclosed fee, and in his debut season in the Football League he managed to almost push his new club to promotion to the promised land of the top flight only to fall short in the play-offs, despite Gray's impressive goalscoring return. Brentford owner Matthew Benham has been quick to deny rumours that a deal may be in place, with messages coming via his highly popular Twitter page.

Hull look to compete

Hull manager Steve Bruce has told media that there will be two new additions arriving at The KC Stadium before The Tigers' campaign begins on August 8th, when they come up against Huddersfield Town.

Now, though, HITC Sport reports that Brentford have rejected a concrete offer for their star forward, thought to be in the region of £3million. With other Championship sides such as Derby County and Middlesbrough spending big this summer, however, this is unlikely to be the end of what could turn into a protracted transfer story.

Busy summer for Brentford

Brentford have been busy this summer, with a host of arrivals both on the field and off the field, with new manager Marinus Dijkhuizen taking over after Mark Warburton left for Rangers. His arrival was quickly followed by the impressive signings of Lasse Vibe from IFK Gothenburg as well as the mouthwatering addition of Philipp Hofmann from German outfit Kaiserslautern.

However, the summer began with the surprise signing of Josh McEachran for a reported £500,000 from Chelsea, as well as the capture of Andreas Bjelland from FC Twente, who were just a few of the early additions to join the Griffin Park club.

This summer, however, has seen Hull lose a number of players, including James Chester, Tom Ince, Stephen Quinn, Paul McShane and Steve Harper. The only arrivals to come into the squad have been Ryan Taylor and Samuel Clucas, who have both arrived for less than £1.5million.
