Saturday lunchtime sees Uwe Rösler's Leeds United take on Carlos Carvalhal's Sheffield Wednesday in what promises to be a feisty tie between two Yorkshire rivals.

Leeds struggling to earn three points

Leeds' first home game saw them take on Sean Dyche's Burnley. Mirco Antenucci's 83rd-minute strike looked set to have earned Rösler's side all three points but Sam Vokes' header three minutes later salvaged a draw for the Clarets.

They then travelled to the Madejski Stadium to face Reading. After a poor 90 minutes on a Sunday afternoon, neither side could break the deadlock.

Leeds could have taken three points home from Bristol City on Wednesday evening after earning a two-goal lead, but the Robins scored two late goals. Despite this disappointment, the Whites remain unbeaten.

Steady start for wednesday

Unlike Leeds, Wednesday got off to a winning start against League One Champions Bristol City, winning 2-0. A Capital One Cup 4-1 victory against Mansfield Town, fielding five of their new signings, added to their positive start.

The last two games for Carvalhal's side, however, have been disappointing. A 2-1 defeat to Mick McCarthy's Ipswich Town was followed by a draw with Reading as a late goal in midweek meant the Owls snatched at a point right at the death. New signing Modou Sougou scored the equaliser.

Player focus

Leeds bolstered their squad this summer with seven new additions, including Chris Wood, Sol Bamba and winger Stuart Dallas.

After Bamba's successful loan spell last season, he was signed permanently from Italian side Palermo. Bamba was made the captain at the start of the season after new boss Rösler was impressed by the 30-year-old.

Last season, in 19 starts, his performances helped Leeds keep six clean sheets, in what was a difficult season for the Whites. A good performance by the Ivorian is essential if Leeds want to keep Wednesday out.

Former Leeds defender Tom Lees helped the Owls keep 17 clean sheets in 44 league appearances. Lees didn't have the best of times at Leeds, but he's made a real impression at Hillsborough. He has also already opened up his goalscoring account for the season with a header against Bristol City and helped keeping a clean sheet on the opening day.

If Wednesday want to keep their Yorkshire rivals quiet, Lees' performance could be pivotal.

Team News

The only man out for Leeds is 18-year-old Lewis Cook, who will complete his three-game suspension after this Yorkshire derby.

Cook is suspended due to receiving a straight red card away at Doncaster in the Capital One Cup, after scoring his first ever professional goal.

Goalkeeper Keiren Westwood has been ruled out of the fixture due to an injury sustained in the first half against Ipswich. It will be a big blow for the Owls, as Westwood is a key part of their team. Glenn Loovens and Atdhe Nuhiu are also doubtful.

Experienced official Mike Jones is the referee for this game. It will be his first Championship game of the season so far, having previously taking control of Watford's 2-2 draw at Everton and Swansea City's 2-0 win against Newcastle in the top flight.
