Aitor Karanka has expressed his excitement for the future of Middlesbrough after seeing ten new faces join the club in the transfer window.

The manager saw Carlos De Pena join on deadline day to complete a successful transfer window for Middlesbrough as they aim to win promotion this season. Karanka spoke of the recent activity, saying on the club website, “It’s a perfect week for me now because the transfer window has finished and we have no game so we can work on the pitch with most of the players."

Big summer signings

Currently sixth in the Championship table after five games, Karanka's side are still firm favourites to win the title and get back into the Premier League. With ten new signings, including fan favourite Stewart Downing, the near future for Middlesbrough looks very promising. When asked about his squad, Karanka said he was "really pleased" and "excited about the future."

The squad has been strengthened in all areas and the manager could see his side really kick start their promotion bid from here onwards.

Eight points after five matches isn't exactly ideal for Middlesbrough but it's not a bad start and a squad full of good players can certainly propel them to what the club and fans expect in the coming weeks.

It's been a very busy summer at Middlesbrough and with the window finally shut, the future looks to be in good hands with Aitor Karanka at the helm. The boss did go on to say, “Fortunately everything is finished now. We have an amazing squad with good players. I am really pleased and looking forward.”

With international football upon us this week, Karanka will have to wait until next week to see his entire squad in action. Middlesbrough welcome MK Dons to The Riverside Stadium once club football resumes.
