Rotherham United captain Lee Frecklington is close to making his first-team return.

Big boost for the Millers

The midfielder has been out of action for the last four matches, after suffering a calf injury during a 1-1 draw away at Charlton Athletic in the Sky Bet Championship

During that time the Yorkshire side have struggled on the pitch and are only one place above the relegation zone due to goals scored.

All change at the New York Stadium

Despite winning two games in a row, the club decided to part company with manager Steve Evans. The Scot ended his three-year reign with the Millers, which included two promotions in two seasons.

First-team coach Eric Black has been named as the club's interim manager while the search for a new permanent boss continues.

Rotherham had an approach to speak to Walsall manager Dean Smith turned down yesterday, after the Sky Bet League 1 club stated that there manger wasn't going anywhere.

Frecklington's return still weeks away

Despite returning to training at the beginning of this week, former Peterborough United man Frecklington is still "two to three weeks" way from looking at a return to first-team action according to Black.

Black also confirmed that Frecklington suffered a 'grade one' calf injury and he won't be rushing the skipper back into action quickly as he wants to make sure there are "no repercussions" as we approach the busy winter fixture period.

Fortunately for the Millers, midfielder Paul Green has returned to full training following an ankle problem, and Farrend Rawson has also been back training after he suffered cramp in the club's last match, a 2-1 home defeat against Burnley.
