Wolves have completed a £1million deal to bring Swindon player, Nathan Byrne, to Molineux on a three-year contract.

Byrne, who turned 23 over the summer, began his professional career in the Tottenham Hotspur academy, and the talented winger was quick to make an impression on the then academy coach, Alex Inglethorpe, who recommended the youngster to the likes of Brentford, Bournemouth, and Crawley Town, who all took the youngster on short-term loans, where he made 32 appearances in the Football League.

At just 20 years of age, Byrne made his fourth loan spell, on this occasion heading out to Swindon. It was at this point that he made seven appearances, and earned himself a permanent move to the League One side.

After making the switch on a permanent basis, the winger went on to make 83 appearances for Swindon, netting 10 goals in the process.

A replacement for Sako at last

Wolves fans will be satisfied with the conclusion of this transfer, as the 23-year-old seems to be a perfect replacement for Bakary Sako, who left the club for Crystal Palace this summer.

Wolves have already been busy this summer, with Kenny Jackett adding former Liverpool midfielder Connor Coady to their ranks from fellow Championship side Huddersfield. They have also brought in Jed Wallace from Portsmouth, with the youngster being one of the most highly rated players in League Two last term.

Another addition to the Wolves squad was Sheyi Ojo who joined on loan from Liverpool, following the youngster's short-term loan spell at Wigan last season.

Jackett pleased with new signing

"He has developed into a very good attacking player over the last couple of seasons in a very good and successful Swindon team," boss Kenny Jackett told the club's website.

"Nathan is an exciting young player who can play wide on either side, or behind the striker."
