Both Burnley and Everton will be desperate to take all three points when the side’s meet at Turf Moor on Sunday in the Barclays Premier League. The Clarets are the only side in England’s top four divisions yet to have tasted victory in the league this season, something that will surely spur Sean Dyche’s men on to do so sometime soon. Burnley’s problem seems to be the lack of goals they have scored, last season’s formidable pairing of Danny Ings and Sam Vokes has failed to live up to its expectations in the top tier so far, only Aston Villa have scored less than the Lancashire men so far.

As we have seen from the past, Premier League newcomers battling to beat the drop, often survive because of their home form, which must remain imperious across the course of the season, and improving Burnley’s home record at Turf Moor (2 wins from their last 13 BPL home games) would definitely be their best chance of survival.

As for the away side, Everton travel to Turf Moor also boasting an inconsistent batch of results this season, although not quite to the extent of the hosts. Only QPR who sit bottom, have conceded more goals than Everton this season, which is something to be concerned about after their impressive number of clean sheets last season – only Chelsea crowed more – and Roberto Martinez will be more than aware that eradicating their defensive errors will propel them up the table.

Team News:

Burnley: Steven Reid is doubtful after a groin injury has kept him out recently, as has Michael Keane who has had hamstring trouble Dean Marney also remains a doubt having missed the club’s last three encounters, the medical stuff may push him for a late fitness test should they think he’s ready to return.

Everton: James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman, Steven Naismith and Leon Osman could all return into the Toffee’s line up following being rested in Everton’s 0-0 draw in Lille on Thursday in the Europa League. Kevin Mirallas and John Stones are both out with hamstring and ankle problems and Bryan Oviedo and Arouna Kone are still not match-fit following long injury rehabilitation.

Possible Starting XI’s:

Burnley: Heaton, Trippier, Duff, Shackell, Duff, Mee, Boyd, Arfield, Jones, Kightly, Ings, Jutkiewicz.

Everton: Howard, Coleman, Jagielka, Alcaraz, Baines, McCarthy, Barry, Osman, Barkley, Naismith, Lukaku.
