Brendan Rodgers takes his Liverpool side back to Selhurst Park for the first time since the final blow was dealt to their title hopes last season when they threw away a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3, as he takes the trip to take on Crystal Palace in their 12th game of the current Barclays' Premier League campaign.

Meanwhile, Crystal Palace come into the game in bad form with just one point in their last five games.  Palace's season started poorly, losing their first two games as well as their manager in the first week of the season.  Neil Warnock was appointed shortly after and picked up eight points from his first four games but the honeymoon period is well and truly over now and Palace are slipping into the relegation zone.

The Eagles will be boosted by the return of Mile Jedinak who missed the Manchester United game due to suspension.  They are conceding too many goals at present with only QPR conceding more in the league.  Tony Pulis sides have always been solid defensively and Warnock needs to bring that defensive stability back into the team.

Liverpool look a million miles away from the team that came so close to winning the title last season.  Obviously selling Luis Suarez and losing Daniel Sturridge to injury have hurt but the problems have been much deeper than that.

Last year Liverpool played at a high tempo and opposition defenders had no time on the ball but this year they have been happy to allow defenders to have the ball in their own half and only press when the ball goes into their half.  In possession the build up play has been a lot slower and there has been no consistency in team selection.  They have started with three different formations in their last four games and the defence and midfield has had different personnel on each occasion.

They spent a lot of money in the summer and none of the signings have made much of an impact.  Mario Balotelli is yet to score in the league in nine games but he hasn't been the only one to under perform.

Neil Warnock and Brendan Rodgers find themselves in difficult positions at present and will be desperately looking for a win here which they will be hoping will spark a good run of form as the league heads towards the all important Christmas period.

Probable Teams:

Crystal Palace - Speroni; Kelly, Delaney, Dann, Ward; Puncheon, Jedinak, Ledley, Bolasie; Chamakh; Campbell.

Liverpool - Mignolet; Johnson, Skrtel, Lovren, Moreno; Henderson, Gerrard, Can; Coutinho, Balotelli, Sterling.
