Newcastle's interim manager John Carver secured his first win since taking over at a Hull side who were very poor at the KC Stadium. The 50 year old broke his duck as Hull have now failed to score in five of their lasr seven home games.

Goals from Remy Cabella, Sammy Ameobi and Yoan Gouffran secured the win for the Magpies, as Hull created chances but failed to take any of them. On a day when the home side had four players returning from injury, including star strikers Nikica Jelavic and Abel Hernandez, Hull's firepower in front of goal continues to draw a blank.

Despite the scoreline Hull started the game the better, with defender Andy Robertson failing to convert a shot from a tight angle, the exciting Scot was one of the four returning to the squad after an ankle injury. The Tiger's best chance however fell to Curtis Davies, the captain managed to get a head to a superb Ahmed Elmohamady cross, but Newcastle 'keeper Tim Krul tipped it away before Mike Williamson hooked it away from Jelavic.

Cabella was ever impressive throughout the game and continued to cause Hull problems all game, and he got a just reward for his efforts as he scored his first goal for the club. Robertson gave the ball away before Cabella latched on from 30 yards out and took a shot from the edge of the area which cannoned into the bottom corner.

Just before half time Hull had the ball in the net, however Elmohamady's goal was ruled out as he blatantly used his hand to steer the ball into the net, he was rightly booked for it. The Tigers were now a former shadow of the side who had started the game on top.

The second half started just as the first ended, Newcastle’s Sammy Ameobi took advantage of a poor Ramirez ball and caught Allan McGregor out as he shot from 30 yards past the Scottish ‘keeper, who was poorly placed.

Hull started to try and get back into the game, with Fabriccio Coloccini sending a ball high into the air, with Vernon Anita sparing the Argentinian’s blushes. Ten minutes later Robertson and Ramirez linked up well to feed Jelavic, who missed from six yards out, after failing to get a good connection on the ball.

The third goal was the real nail in the coffin for Hull, as all the confidence they had built up in the second half melted away when substitute Yoan Gouffran hit a deflected effort past McGregor to consign Hull to another defeat.

Hull have only two wins in 13 games, and sit in the relegation zone. With Hull manager Steve Bruce looking like he has a challenge on his hands in order to keep Hull in the Premier League. John Carver however, who is staking his claim to be the boss on a permanent basis, will be happy with their convincing victory.
