Tottenham striker Emmanuel Adebayor is set to leave the club in the summer.

The Daily Mail reported yesterday that the North London club is prepared to subsidise a part of the striker’s £100,000 per-week wages to get rid of him in the summer transfer window. The former Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid man was linked with a shock move to fellow London side West Ham in the January transfer window but the move was blocked at the last minute by the Lilywhites.

The Togolese has fell out of favour at White Hart Lane after the emergence of Harry Kane and has made 12 league appearances and returned two goals; it does seem that both club and player are keen to move on.

One major factor could be the striker’s wages - annually, Adebayor earns £5.2million pounds and is believed to be unwilling to accept anything else which may have scared off potential suitors across Europe.

Adebayor will enter the final year of his contract this summer which would make him available for a loan or a permanent move. Chairman Daniel Levy is usually reluctant to let players go out on loan but he is apparently willing to make an exception for Adebayor. A loan could work for the 31-year-old as it would allow him to put himself in the shop window or a lucrative free transfer at the end of his contract.
