Diego Maradona has compared Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal to the devil with regards to his treatment of Radamel Falcao.

The Argentine legend feels that the forward hasn’t been given the chance to prove himself in Manchester, with his lack of opportunities largely down to the Dutchman.

Van Gaal can add Falcao to his squad on a permanent basis in the summer but the on-loan Monaco man is likely to come with a sizeable price tag, one that his performances for the Red Devils so far this season are yet to reflect.

But speaking at a press conference in Colombia, Falcao’s native country, the World Cup winner spoke about both the Manchester United manager and the out of form forward: "van Gaal is not a nice guy, van Gaal is closer to the devil than anything. His time was cut short after the injury and he has to adapt to the move."

The Colombian was forced out of the World Cup last year due to a serious knee injury and Maradona is convinced that his below par form this season is down to that. He has scored just four goals in his time as a Manchester United player and has been on the subsitutes' bench for their last five games.

The 29-year-old’s future is still very unclear and his current situation is likely to interest many of the top clubs throughout Europe, despite his indifferent form in the Premier League this season.
