The Professional Footballers' Association has named it's Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year shortlist, two of the most prestigious end of season awards in the country.

Player of the Year

Diego Costa (Chelsea)
Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool)
David De Gea (Manchester United)
Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)
Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)

Young Player of the Year

Thibaut Courtois (Chelsea)
Philippe Coutinho (Liverpool)
David de Gea (Manchester United)
Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
Harry Kane (Tottenham Hotspur)
Raheem Sterling (Liverpool)

The two shortlists include David De Gea, Eden Hazard, Harry Kane and Philippe Coutinho on both.

Chelsea dominate both shortlists with a player from the club appearing on either shortlist 4 times.

Many were surprised to not see Nemanja Matic included in the Player of the Year shortlist after the Serb has had a fantastic season for Chelsea.

Diego Costa - The Spaniard has scored 19 goals this season, leading the Premier League scoring charts.

Philippe Coutinho - After a slow start to the season Coutinho has come into his own, scoring 4 times and assisting 4 times for Liverpool in the league this season. Nominated for both Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.

David De Gea - The United goalkeeper has been stunning in goal for the Red Devils this season, the highlight being awarded Man of the Match in his sides 3-0 win over Liverpool. Nominated for Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.

Eden Hazard - The Belgian has been flying for Chelsea this season, scoring 12 and assisting 8, thoroughly deserving his nomination for both Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year.

Harry Kane - Nominated for both awards after only scoring his first goal in November and carrying Tottenham throughout the season in all competitions. Joint top scorer with Costa in the league with 19 goals.

Alexis Sanchez - Possibly the weakest of the nominees this season despite an electric start to his Arsenal career. Played well in recent months but nothing like his original form at the start of the season. Scored 14 goals and assisted 8, a stunning set of statistics.

Thibaut Courtois - Only goalkeeper to contest with De Gea for the best in the league, 9 clean sheets this season. Highlight in recent weeks was a tremendous triple save against Hull City.

Raheem Sterling - Tops Liverpool's goal scoring charts but hasn't recreated the stunning form of last season when he was partnered by Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez. Unlikely to see success in this award.
