Following Watford's promotion up into the English top flight, top goal-scorer Troy Deeney has admitted to Goals on Sunday that he is relishing the challenge that comes with the territory of playing in one of the most competitive leagues in the world.

The Hornets ended a seven-year absence from the Premier League with a victory over Brighton, and despite letting their league title grasp slip as Championship winners Bournemouth took advantage of their draw with Sheffield Wednesday, Watford are into the top flight again.

Captain and top goal-scorer Troy Deeney, who has amassed twenty goals in each of his last three seasons said the following: "It's going to take a lot of hard work next season and a bit of luck. From a club point of view, we're going to need some investment obviously, that goes without saying. But there are ways of doing it now, do we do a Burnley model and be sensible or do we go the QPR way. If we can find a happy medium of that and bring in the right players we should be alright.

We've got some very technically gifted players. Without putting any extra pressure on them, the likes of Almen Abdi and Matej Vydra will flourish in the Premier League. And then there's myself - I've scored twenty goals three seasons in a row now so there's an added expectation to score now as well. People know what I'm about now; I'm big and I'd like to see what some of these nice defenders have to say when I push them around!"

STAT: Deeney himself has scored 21 goals, created 63 chances and totalled 54 key passes during the 2014-15 campaign with Watford.
