Queens Park Rangers' relegation from the Barclays Premier League was confirmed on Saturday as they were humbled 6-0 by Manchester City, meaning it's now mathematically impossible for them to stay up.

Despite a change of manager halfway through the season, QPR have been consistently poor and it always looked like they would be relegated. Only picking up their first away win in February, the R's form on the road was always poor and their results at Loftus Road alone weren't enough to keep them up.

They now join Burnley as the second relegated team, with the third spot in the drop zone still yet to be decided with two matchweek's left. The next battle for the club will be hanging onto the likes of Charlie Austin and Leroy Fer, who may perhaps wish to stay in the Premier League.

Chairman Tony Fernandes had this to say following the relegation: "It’s a sad and disappointing day for everyone connected to QPR.

"The Premier League is the toughest competition in world football, so we were well aware of the complexities of the task this season and unfortunately we’ve fallen just short.

"I feel desperately for the fans who have been absolutely fantastic again this season, as they always are.”

Team manager Chris Ramsey told the media this after the loss: "The players have shown a lot of fight and determination to stay in the league. But you don’t end up where you are by fluke.

"We have been playing well but haven’t been able to take points because of the late goals we’ve been conceding.

"On the day our quality was nowhere near what is should be for a Premier League team.”
