Manchester United and Southampton have handed the most debuts to their players this season as the overall number in the Premier League rose.

Figures have been revealed that show there were 32 academy debutantes in the Premier League. This means that the players making the debut have been at the club since 16 or younger.

The Twitter account, @chelseayouth, tweeted the data which showed the following figures in the breakdown of clubs,

Most academy debutantes from Premier League sides:

  1. Manchester United, Southampton - 6
  2. Queens Park Rangers - 5
  3. Chelsea - 3
  4. Arsenal - 3
  5. Newcastle - 2

The data shows an increase of one from the 2013/14 season.

Manchester United have handed debuts to Jesse Lingard, Paddy McNair, Tyler Blackett, Tom Thorpe, Andreas Pereira and Michael Keane.
