In this seemingly pointless game, Spain coach Vincente Del Bosque made a total of seven changes to his starting XI in order to salvage some pride for La Roja. Arsenal forward Santi Cazorla was included in these changes after a bright 15 minute spell against Chile.

Both sides started brightly, enjoying some early possession, but it would be the Spanish who created the most chances early on with chances falling to a number of forwards, including Santi Cazorla.

However it was David Villa who opened the scoring for Del Bosque's side. The experienced striker scored a cute back-heel flick from the edge of the six yard box from a lovely weighted cutback from his former Atletico Madrid teammate, Juanfran.

The second-half was certainly quieter, with Spain continuing to dominate with possession. Substitute, Fernando Torres doubled their lead on 70 minutes with a lovely finish into the far corner.

Juan Mata rounded off the scoring with a cheeky nutmeg of Matthew Ryan, the Australia goalkeeper, thanks to a superb ball over the top of the Aussies back line.

Del Bosque will be content with his sides performance, their dominance was quickly asserted in the game and it was only a matter of time before La Roja opened the scoring.

Former Arsenal captain, Cesc Fabregas, was introduced in place of Santi Cazorla for the final 20 minutes. The now Chelsea player provided the assist for Juan Mata's goal. Meanwhile, Cazorla had yet another impressive game in a Spain shirt, creating a number of chances for his teammates.

Arsenal transfer targets Pedro and Iker Casillas did not make it off of the substitutes bench after some disappointing perfomances against the Netherlands and Chile. They were replaced in the starting XI by David Villa and Pepe Reina.

Overall, Del Bosque will be at least satisfied that his side managed to end the tournament on a positive note, with a dominant 3-0 win over the Australians.
