#Wengerout was a popular saying throughout last season - Once Arsenal lost grasp of first place in the league and didn't show any real potential to retake it. Their record against the top five was abysmal, and it seemed like every major game the players never showed up. Many fans saw this coming. The team needed a striker in Janurary if we were to continue our top form. Wenger bought a 30-year-old defensive midfielder instead.
I was amongst the people who thought that Wenger should leave after the FA Cup triumph. Win one more trophy and sail into the sunset and wait for that bronze statue to be created outside the Emirates. Wenger lost my support the minute he sanctioned Robin Van Persie to move to Manchester United. I move I will never understand. That's a topic for a different day.
Wenger's will to win and strengthen his squad seem to be renewed since the FA Cup triumph and new PUMA deal. Arsenal is spending money before an embarassing loss early in the season. It seems as though the squad is strengthening at the right time. Allowing the new players to gel with the returning players before the campaign starts. The signing of two full time internationals is a fantastic start. Sanchez provides the team with a ton of qualities that the squad lacked last year and I believe the team upgraded at right-back with the signing of Debuchy. A player who plays in front of Sagna for the French national team.
The transfer window is still open. If Arsene can sign three more players - a goalkeeper, striker, defensive midfielder - they have a real shot at winning the title with the talent/depth they'll have at each position. I can't imagine Arsenal going into the season with the same striking issues we had last year. Another big name coming in, like Balotelli or Benzema would surely put the team right next to Manchester City for favorites.
Wenger is trying his best so far to win back all the fans he lost over the past two season. He's doing an outstanding job thusfar. Let's hope it continues.
