Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that his transfer business is not over yet, and there may still be some signings and departures before the window closes on the first day of September.

Wenger had this to say: "I'm still open to do more and let's not forget we are on the first of August today and the transfer closes on the first of September. For years, it's been a long time sitting with you here on the first of August having done quite a lot so we are a bit ahead of what we usually do.

The availability on the market was bigger and earlier than before - the bigger clubs have done their deals early and when one starts, everyone follows so that's why it has been quicker."

And when asked about whether he expects Vermaelen to stay at the club: "At the moment, he is here. It could happen. Yes it's a possibility that he goes and if he goes we have to replace him because he is an important player in our squad. I expect him to stay but of course he did not play enough games last year - I couldn't give him the games that he wanted last year so I will see."

Club-captain Thomas Vermaelen has been heavily linked with a move to Premier League rivals Manchester United, but it is still unclear where his future lies. He is reportedly set to have talks with his manager in the next week or so to discuss terms.

Arsenal's summer signings so far:

Mathieu Debuchy, right-back - £9million pounds from Newcastle

David Ospina, goalkeeper - £3million pounds from Nice

Alexis Sanchez, winger/forward - £32million pounds from Barcelona

Calum Chambers, full-back - £16million from Southampton

Could there be more? According to Wenger, it's a very real possibilty.
