Loïc Remy seems to be linked with a move to Arsenal every transfer window, and this summer has been no different. When the transfer window opened back in July, Arsenal were linked with the Frenchman almost daily until he looked set to move to Liverpool. His move to Anfield to fell through, so it looked like he was set to stay at QPR until at least January. But due to the unforseen events in which Olivier Giroud could potentially be out for three months, Remy could very well be on the move across London before the transfer window slams shut.

Arsene Wenger is known to be an admirer of the French striker, who was one of the few bright sparks in a dim Newcastle side last season. Remy managed to bag quite an impressive fourteen Premier League goals for the Magpies, despite being isolated in most games due to the lack of a creative talent.

QPR are keen to get the striker off their books and Remy is available for around £8 million and could certainly prove to be a shrewd acquisition if he were to be given service from the likes of Mesut Özil, Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey.

There are a few stumbling blocks for Arsenal, however. Firstly, Loïc Remy failed a medical earlier in the summer with Liverpool, and the Frenchman has a record of failing them. The last thing Wenger would want to do is to add another unfit player to the squad. Furthermore, Remy is reportedly demanding wages of £80-90,000-a-week and it remains unclear if Arsenal would be willing to give in to those wage demands.

But how does the QPR striker compare to his French counterpart? Squawka have been able to provide the stats from last season and they're remarkably similar.

Despite playing nearly eleven games less, Remy managed just two less league goals than Giroud. With the QPR man averaging a goal every 1.8 games, while Olivier Giroud averaged a goal every 2.25 games. Quite the difference.

Olvier Giroud is also often hailed for his link-up play, and despite Remy successfully completing 81% of his passes, he made half the amount of passes that Giroud did last season. In that case, Arsenal would have to drastically change their style of play whenever playing with Remy in the side. Aside from that, Remy and Giroud are both strikers with a strong presence inside the area, with most or all of their goals coming within the eighteen yard box.

The only major difference aside from their passing is their finishing. Olivier Giroud had a conversion rate of a mere 18.2% last season, whereas his international teammate finished with an impressive rate of 21.5%. Giroud often comes under heavy criticism for his finishing so to have a player like Loïc Remy who is distinctly better would come as a relief to many Arsenal fans.
