Arsenal are weighing up a January move for Celtic centre half Virgil Van Dijk as they are lacking defenders due to transfers and injuries. Van Dijk is currently on the books at Parkhead and has been one of the more consistent players for Celtic at the start of this season. So far he has five goals in 38 games. He was part of a defence that went 1,215 minutes without conceding a goal. All this has seen Van Dijk called up to the Netherlands squad for their European Qualifier.

Arsenal had considered a move for the Dutchman in the summer transfer window but nothing came of it. Van Dijk would bring something to the back four of Arsenal that has not been seen since the days of Tony Adams which is leadership. He would also add a little pace to the Gunners back-line which has not got any real pace. Arsenal fans know that a defensive signing is needed in January following the sale of Thomas Vermaelen to Catalan giants Barcelona.

Arsene Wenger is keen and Arsenal fans would welcome the move so the fans will be begging for this signing to be made when the next transfer window is opened in January.
