Wojciech Szczesny sheds light on the behind the scenes work and mental attitude of new Gunners hit man Alexis Sanchez.
The Chilean has started well for the North Londoners with five goals in his first 12 appearances, including a stunning volley against champions Manchester City - and his passion for goals and success for Arsenal has been confirmed by their number 1 keeper.
“He’s got a massive passion for football,” he said in the interview. “Obviously every single little game you have [in training] everyone wants to win, but there are always a couple of players who are so passionate that they hate to lose and Alexis is one of them.
“If he is losing a game he wants to take the ball, dribble past everyone and score - and he does that pretty well sometimes!
“On top of that he is a very good footballer and has been a very good signing as well. I am sure there is more come from him.”
Arsenal’s Polish keeper also believes his brilliant entry to Premier League football has been down to the fact that he got off to a good start with an early goal; which will have certainly relaxed the 26-year-old, especially with such high expectations from the global Gooners. “He got a massive goal for us against Besiktas and that took the pressure off him,” he said. “Since then he has scored pretty much every time he has started.
“I’m very happy for him. I hope it continues and he gives us that little bit more.”
For Arsenal fans hearing such positive words about Sanchez will certainly be a relief as coming from a world class team like Barcelona, where he enjoyed much success, there may have been doubts about his commitment to his new team in London. However, those doubts can certainly be put to bed and there can be assurances that the talented winger has much more to provide for his new club and will help this growing team strive forward considerably.
