Lukasz Fabianski has come along way since leaving London in the Summer. The Pole, who had been a relative understudy and second choice goalkeeper at Arsenal, has risen to prominence since signing for Welsh club Swansea City.

Fabianski, who signed for Arsenal in 2007 from his native Legia Warszawa, was mainly used in the League Cup competitions.

In seven years Lukasz made just 32 league appearances for Arsenal, averaging at just under five league starts a season for the North London side.

The stark contrast is that the Polish shotstopper has already bettered that, and has started nine of the 11 of Swansea's Premier League fixtures in what is his debut season for the Swans.

Although he didn't come back to haunt his former employers in the 2-1 home win over the Gunners on Sunday, he did keep Arsenal's goal scoring tally kept to a minimum.

Fabianski had a relatively quiet first-half at the Liberty Stadium and commanded his defensive line well in what was a strong defensive display from the Welsh side, currently sitting in a European qualification spot.

When leaving Arsenal on a costless transfer in May, Fabianski was quoted saying "The main reason I came to Swansea was because I want to be the number one goalkeeper". After the departure of Michel Vorm to Tottenham Hotspur, Fabianski has established himself as Swansea's first choice shot stopper pulling out a string of solid performances.

Although somewhat of a liability during his playing days at Arsenal and eager to clear the nickname "Flappyhandski", which he inadvertadly earnt in London. The Polish number two has still been kicking away at his former club compatriots heels, but Wojciech Szczesny will be looking over his shoulders at a man in impressive form, eager to break into the Poland international team.

Garry Monk has seen his side call upon their last line of defence on just a few occasions this season but will be confident in his first choice goalkeepers ability to keep opposing strikers at bay.

Interestingly Fabianski tops the goalkeeping charts for total crosses claimed, 30. The closet player to him being Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois with 22. Having made nine appearances so far for the Swans, The Pole has kept four clean sheets and has a saves per game percentage of 2.8

Fabianski, who is used to having to patiently wait for his chances at his previous club, has relished his opportunities at Swansea and is currently keeping Gerhard Tremmel patiently waiting for an opportunity of his own on the sidelines.

With Swansea City flying high under Garry Monk and Lukasz Fabianski in strong form, the Welsh club's first line of defence could be their best form of attack building on what has been an impressive start to the campain.
