Amaury Bischoff joined Arsenal on 30 July 2008 on a costless transfer from Werder Bremen, signing a one year contract. Upon signing, Wenger admitted it was a "gamble on talent" due to the midfielder's awful injury record, although both Bischoff and Wenger were reasonably optimistic heading into the 2008/09 season. It appeared the optimism paid off with the then twenty-one-year-old made a number of cup appearances from October to December. Despite the limited playing time, Bischoff impressed and it was assumed that he would grow into the first team. Instead, he was dismissed to the reserve team and when his one year contract expired, Arsenal took no time in releasing him.

In search of rejuvenation, Bischoff headed to his Mother's birthplace, Portugal. The midfielder signed a two year deal with Académica de Coimbra. Things seemed to go from bad to worse for Bischoff, who was loaned out to C.D. Aves in the Portuguese second tier, after a solitary appearance for Académica. He enjoyed a slight improvement with Aves, playing ten times and scoring once.

Académica decided to give Bischoff another chance, rewarding him with nine league appearances in the 2010/11 season and a contract renewel. Injuries once again plagued Bischoff as he failed to establish a run of games throughout the season.

After seemingly hitting rock bottom again, the midfielder returned to Aves for the 2011/12 season. He managed to avoid injuries during the season, resulting in a more established role at the club, with twenty appearances in the Segunda Liga. Despite playing a more prominent role, Aves were still unconvinced and allowed him to leave that summer.

Bischoff looked to return to Germany in a final attempt to revive his career. SC Preußen Münster of the 3.Liga were the club willing to give him that opportunity and it has certainly paid off. In the 2012/13 season Bischoff appeared to have finally put his injury troubles behind him, playing thirty-four games whilst recording an impressive ten goals and twelve assists. His consistency continued into his second season with the club, making twenty-nine appearances. And even now, in the 2014/15 season, Bischoff is an integral part of Preußen Münster's setup. The twenty-seven-year-old has made thirteen appearances so far this season as well as scoring four goals. His form has been a crucial element of Münster's fantastic start to the season, which sees them sit in second place of the 3.Liga, just one point behind of table-toppers Wehen Wiesbaden.

After becoming somewhat of a journeyman, Amaury Bischoff will be more than pleased with the consistency and stability he has found with Preußen Münster. The midfielder appears to have finally shaken off his injury troubles and it has given him a new lease of life. Even though it's six years later than he'd hoped, he is finally starting to make a name for himself.
