As the year draws to a close, it's a good time to look back at the year that Arsenal have had. 2014 had been full of highs and lows in what has been a roller coaster of a year. But, who were the best players of 2014?

Another difficult category to choose due to the strong team that Arsenal have had this year. Cup final goalscorer Cazorla, record signing Özil and unsung hero Gibbs have all missed out showing how strong this category is.

3. Laurent Koscielny

The Frenchman has been a solid defender all year but has been rather unappreciated by fans, pundits and journalists. The saying "you don't know what you have until it's gone" is one that can really put to true use when talking about Koscienly. When he was injured or suspended this year it showed and Arsenal's team performances really suffered. Koscielny also grabbed some important goals this year, most important being his 71st minute equaliser in the FA Cup final.

2. Alexis Sanchez

Despite only bring at the club since July, Sanchez has had a huge impact. The £30 million signing has looked like he's been worthy every penny so far. He's scored 14 goals so far in all competitions, including some very important goals for example his goal against Besiktas that qualified Arsenal for the group stage of the Champions League. Sanchez could be seen as signing of the summer and is an amazing player, a player of quality that Arsenal haven't possessed since the like of Henry

1. Aaron Ramsey

Who else could it be? Despite having missed a huge amount of the season through injury, the Welshman definitely had the right to be player of the year. After coming back from injury in April, he quickly rediscovered his scoring form, scoring once against Hull in the league and scoring his great volley against Norwich, which was voted as one of Arsenal's goals of the year. His biggest contribution though came on May 17th at Wembley. His 110th minute winner saw Arsenal lift a first trophy in nine years. At the beginning of this season he continued his scoring form, netting against Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Everton. He went on a poor streak but he seems to have recaptured his scoring form, he scored against Stoke last week and twice against Galatasaray in midweek. Many of his goals have been good as well, his 30-yard volley against Galatasaray is definitely Arsenal goal of the year, although it came too late to be recorded in the article on it. Ramsey's had a great year and Arsenal are lucky to have him.
