Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Krystian Bielik from Legia Warsaw for a reported fee of £2.4 million. The signing is Wenger’s first of the January transfer window and the addition of Bielik to Arsenal adds more defensive cover and variety in the holding midfield position. Bielik is one of the most highly rated youngsters in Poland, having made six appearances for Legia Warsaw this season. The 17-year-old arrived in London on Friday to undergo a medical at the club's London Colney training base.

The 17-year-old midfield stands at 6ft 2 and Bielik is known for his box-to-box midfielder qualities, and at only 17 you can see why Wenger was so optimistic to sign the Polish midfielder. Bielik is expected to go straight into the Arsenal first team, due to the injuries of Mikel Arteta and Jack Wilshere, despite Bielik’s tender age and inexperience.

Wenger is still in the market for more defensive signings, with the likes of Nicolas Otamendi and Gabriel both being strongly linked with a move to the Emirates.
