Thierry Henry has admitted that it would be a "dream" of his to manage Arsenal if the opportunity ever arose.

"The thing that I will say is, I don't know what Arsene wants to do and how long he will stay, I just want to be equipped to be in the position one day maybe to be a manager," Henry, who is currently coaching youngsters at Arsenal, told The Jonathan Ross Show.

"Being the manager of Arsenal Football Club will be a dream, but let's all be honest, I need to learn first, that's the most important thing.

"It's not because you know the game that you can teach it and I just want to learn."

Asked what his response would be if offered the job by Wenger, Henry - who is working towards his coaching badges - replied: "I can't say no to Arsenal, so I would say yes."

Henry was in the Sky Sports studio as a pundit on Wednesday night for the 3-1 home loss at the hands of another of his former clubs, Monaco.

Many Arsenal fans see Henry as a natural Arsenal manager but it remains to be seen if he can be as effective as coach as he was a player.

Henry has never been shy in voicing his opinions regarding Arsenal.

"They have gone backwards, it looks like they are a team who looks to finish fourth," he said. "When you look at Arsenal they should be trying to win the title.

"I’m sure Arsene, the fans and the board want more. You can be upset at Arsenal losing to Stoke City but it is the way they went after Arsene and the words they used.

"They are not far but they are missing a big piece. They are missing a (Patrick) Vieira and a Gilberto Silva." speaking ahead of Arsenal's victory at Manchester City earlier this month.

The Arsenal legend and fan favourite scored 174 goals in 254 appearances in his first spell at club between 1999-2007.
