With the upcoming game on monday, let's take a look at some of the best goals the  gunners have netted against the red devils.

  5- Freddie Ljundberg, 2001, Highbury.

After some solid work in the midfield by Robert Pires, he found Freddie just outside the box. Ljundberg took one touch and then effortlessly chipped Fabien Barthez in the Manchester United goal. It was the opener in a 3-1 win and showed his confidence and ability in what would be a title winning season for the Gunners.

4-Nicklas Anelka, 1997, Highbury.

A stray pass was cleared by Tony Adams in the Arsenal half and it fell kindly to Marc Overmars. The Dutchman used his speed to race from the halfway line to the edge of the penalty area. Overmars cut inside but his shot was blocked by a crowd of Manchester United defenders. It trickled out to the edge of the box and fell to Anelka. The frenchman hovered over the ball, and then blasted a shot past Peter Schmiechel at his near post. A low drive with signalled Anelkas first goal for the club.

3-Thierry Henry, 2004, Highbury.

The ball was bouncing around the halfway line until Cambell looped a header to Pires, after knocking it down to Henry, Antonio Reyes recieved the ball. The spaniard sucked in a number of United players until he rolled the ball to Thierry Henry. Even though he was some 30 yards out, the frenchman smashed the ball into the roof of Tom Carolls net. Swerving and fizzing, catching the goalkeeper out. A masterclass in long range shooting from Arsenals greatest ever striker.

2-Patrick Vieira, 1997, Highbury.

Still relatively new to the Premier League, Vieira stole the show in a hotly contested battle. Having taken the lead through Anelkas brillant drive, Arsenal fans were sent into delirium when Patricks stunner gave them a 2 goal lead. Arsenal had a corner and it was aimed at Captain Tony Adams at the near post. Cleared by united to the right of the 18 yard box, Vieira took it first time, his shot cannoned of the crossbar and into the top corner as it bent away from Schmiechel. His right footed strike found the top left corner with the accuracy and power that you would expect from the worlds best.

1-Thierry Henry, 2002, Highbury.

The top of the list is up their with the highbury great all time goals. In a scrappy game, it took a moment of genius to seperate the two teams in a 1-0 victory.  There was little build up play to the goal but it was all about the finish. The ball was played to him by Grimandi, and then the Frenchman turned it on. With his back to goal, he chipped the ball to the side a knee height, and without taking a moment to look at the ball, he hit a beautiful volley. It looped and curved over and away from Fabien Barthez into the side of the net. It seemed so effortless and it was in from the moment he hit it, hanging in the air for what seemed like and age before making its descent into the corner. He seemed to know where the goal was without having to look. A true stunner to top off Arsenals top 5 goals against United.
