Brazil came out as winners against Alexis Sanchez's Chile on Sunday in front of a sell out 60,000 crowd at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium. £35 million signing Alexis Sanchez started for Chile but Brazillian January signing Gabriel didn't make it off the bench.

The game was a tight fought affair between two fierce South American rivals and that showed throughout the game. It was labelled as an International friendly but soon enough the yellow cards came out. The first half was marred by controversy with Chile's Gary Medel appearing to stamp on Neymar, something that was missed by referee Martin Atkinson. In the second half the game opened up, but although Chile looked like the better side throughout the match, Brazil managed to grab the only goal. Porto right back Danilo put in a great through ball to find Hoffenhiem's Roberto Firmino who rounded keeper Claudio Bravo and scored. Chile couldn't get back into the game, but they did have anchance through Alexis Sanchez.

Sanchez, the only Arsenal player who played in the match, was kept relatively quiet by an organised Brazilian defence. In the first half he was an attacking threat for Chile, arguably their only attacking threat. Despite this, Sanchez and his team mates struggled to create any clear cut chances in an evenly contested first half. In the second half, Sanchez came close to opening the scoring with a free kick and tried to exploit Brazil with set pieces but he could not break through.

Also playing in the match were two Arsenal targets, one for each team. For Chile, it was Aranguiz who plays for Internacional in Brazil. He started in midfield for Chile, and he was subdude throughout the match but he did show some moments of brilliance. The Chilean midfielder has been linked with a summer move to Arsenal within the last week, much like match winner Roberto Firmino. After coming on for Brazil, he was a game changer. He used his pace and power to break through the Chilean defence and he scored his goal with a great touch and a wonderful finish. He also had multiple chances to score in the match towards the end. However, he dragged his shot wide.

This match was the final international match for the two sides before the Copa America squads are announced. It was a match where players tried to show their need for a place in the squad. Although it was only a friendly it was a match full of passion and excitement throughout. It was a derby played far from their homelands, and although Sanchez couldn't perform, the stadium ,and the many Arsenal fans who went, did!
