Theo Walcott, who started up front, and Kieran Gibbs were the two Arsenal players who featured against Italy in a replay of last year's World Cup group game and the Euro 2012 quarter-final match.

The match was really a game of two halves. Italy dominated the first-half, although Wayne Rooney did manage to hit the bar. The Azzuri's dominance was rewarded with a goal, Grazino Pelle scored his first international goal with a slight touch to put Chiellini's cross on target. England manager Roy Hogdson made three substitutions which went on to change the game. Michael Carrick, Ross Barkley and goal scorer Andros Townsend came on and England began to dominate. Kieran Gibbs hit the side netting, but with only 10 minutes left it was Andros Townsend who scored with a powerful shot from 25-yards. Harry Kane had a late chance, but it wasn't to be.

Theo Walcott was one of the two Arsenal players to appear in the match. He was kept relatively quite in the first-half, he was deployed first up front and then in the number 10 role. His one big chance came from a great ball from Wayne Rooney, Walcott controlled it beautifully, but his shot was blocked. 10 minutes after half-time he was substituted for Ross Barkley. Walcott wasn't deployed in his signature wing position, mainly because England were playing quite narrowly throughout the first-half. Ironically, when winger Walcott came off, England opened up and began to exploit Italy's back three with pace on the flanks.

Kieran Gibbs was the other Arsenal player who started. He played as a left-back, and provided England with width down the flanks throughout the match. He was a strong attacking presence and he also kept Florenzi, Italy's right wing-back, out of the game. He was good throughout the match, and his highlight probably was hitting the side netting. He decided to place his shot with the side foot, and it went narrowly wide. Gibbs came off in the 87th minute for Ryan Bertrand, but he had a good game and he was definitely the best Arsenal player on the pitch last night.

Quite a few Arsenal targets were on the pitch in Turin, and one was on the sidelines. Antonio Conte has been touted as the next Arsenal manager, but his tactical performance maybe wasn't spot on today. By the second half, when England had figured out the way Italy played, he didn't change the tactics. Managers aside; Smalling, Henderson and Barkley all appeared for England, as well as Veretti for Italy. Smalling wasn't great in the forty minutes he played before he was forced off due to injury. His substitution did see the game change positively of England. Henderson had a bad first-half, he was out of his depth in midfield but he did improve in the second half. Ross Barkley came on and changed the game for England. In the 35 minutes that he played he was an attacking threat, he passed well and dribbled well too. PSG midfielder Marco Verretti came on for Italy midway through the second half and he nearly set Vazquez through to make it 2-0 to Italy. Barkley was defiantly the best Arsenal target who played tonight.

After this match all the players go back to their clubs, with Walcott and Gibbs returning to Arsenal as they prepare to face Liverpool on Saturday. The next international game for both sides is after the end of the club season, in June. The players won't be focusing on those though, as they approach the business end of the season.
