Southampton's 23-year-old defensive midfielder Victor Wanyama has reportedly claimed that Arsenal manager Arséne Wenger wants to sign him in the summer transfer window. The Gunners have been heavily linked with an approach for his French midfield team-mate Morgan Schneiderlin, although Ronald Koeman is eager to keep hold of the midfield duo, they both want to play in the UEFA Champions League, and Arsenal can offer them that.

Wanyama has played in the Champions League previously, with Scottish champions Celtic. His displays in the competition earned him a move to The Saints, where he remains an integral part of the team at the moment. The powerhouse midfielder had the following to say, to The Sun: "Wenger has been talking about me. And he has let it be known he would like to sign me this summer. Arsenal are a great club and I'd love to play Champions League football as I loved being on that stage with Celtic. But we've had a fantastic season at Saints and I want to stay focused on helping the club qualify for Europe. Then we'll see where I end up in the summer.

Tottenham, with his former boss Mauricio Pochettino, are also amongst the clubs linked with the Kenyan, and according to reports, Wanyama could decide either of the north London clubs in the summer. "If I get the chance, maybe. You never know what will happen in the future. It's nice to be linked with other clubs as it means I'm playing well.
